Junior Competition (U12 – U18) Football at Lane Cove FC
Full sized pitches and full football rules are introduced at U12 and played in a competitive league format. While we foster talent and strive to do the best we can, LCFC is a community football Club and we value participation and good sportsmanship and welcome players of all playing levels to enjoy the game.
Official games will begin first week of April and run through till the end of August on Saturdays between 8.30am and 1.00pm.
Training begins once the children are selected into teams, and coaches are appointed and provided with their kit. This is generally by the middle of March.
Coaching and Team Management
Parent participation with coaching and managing the teams is highly valued and helps our teams succeed. Lane Cove FC provides detailed coaches and managers manuals. Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend a “Grass-roots” coaching course where you will be taught the essential coaching skills. If you commit to coaching a team, the club will pay for this course which is generally run early in the season.
During the season, additional coaching assistance can be made available if required. More experienced coaches are encouraged to attend Junior Licence courses to provide our players with higher quality coaching as their own skills develop.
The Club provides playing shirts (which must be returned), and all training equipment for the teams. Players need to purchase shorts, socks, shinpads and boots. The socks and shorts can be purchased online during registration (shorts $22.00 & socks $11.00). You can then collect them at Blackman Park. Other football equipment is available from any sports store, but we would recommend visiting Rebel Sports. Make sure you tell them at the checkout that you are part of Lane Cove FC!
If you have any questions regarding Juniors, please don’t hesitate to contact our Juniors Coordinator at email@example.com.
Grading and Selections for Juniors
Trials for all Junior age groups generally occur in mid-February – dates to be announced early February.
IMPORTANT: Different age-groups will have trials on different evenings and information will be sent to you if you have registered prior.
It is very important that all players attend ALL trials so that we can make sure they are in the right teams.
Playing With Friends
We have found that children generally play best when grouped with players on par with their playing capabilities. However, we acknowledge that some kids may prefer to be playing with their friends; while LCFC will make every effort to ensure our players are happy we cannot guarantee that every request will be accommodated. We are confident in our grading process and upon that process we will be able to deliver better training programs to improve football skills and overall game play making it more fun for everyone.
