FAQ

REGISTRATIONS

When do registrations for the winter season open?

Registrations open in January every year! In 2025 FA released PlayFootball 2.0 which is a new and improved registration platform for players.

Click here for registration instructions and click here for the FA PlayFootball links and support.

Have I registered in the correct age group? And if not, what should I do next?

NSFA’s Birth Date Requirements can be viewed here.

If you have registered in the wrong age group you will need to notify the Club asap via email. If you have already made payment you made need to be deregistered and reregistered.

It is possible to be granted permission play up or down an age group/s depending on the circumstances. A special dispensation form will need to be completed and returned to LCFC which is then passed onto NSFA. This can be found here.

How do I pay for registration?

Payment can be made via credit card when registering or by logging back into your FFA Play Football profile.

Please find below LCFC’s bank account details for direct debit transfers:
Account Name: Lane Cove Football Club Incorporated
Bank: Westpac
BSB: 032 051
Account Number: 618 018
Please ensure to include the tax invoice number in the reference field and also send a remittance advice to admin@lcfc.com.au.

Where can I obtain a receipt of my registration payment?

Please login to your FFA Play Football profile and you will be able to download a copy of your payment receipt.

When/where will trials be?

Our Senior teams trial dates including Mens All Age Premier League, can be confirmed with the team managers. Please email admin@lcfc.com.au and we will put you in contact with them. Or you can contact the relevant Age Coordinator directly: https://lcfc.com.au/contact/board/.

Miniroos & Junior Trial Dates are typically held at Blackman Park during mid-February. Once players are registered, they will be emailed the trial timetable and sessions will be held across several weeks.

What do I wear to trials/training?

There are no required uniforms for trials or training. Please wear a t-shirt and shorts of any colour/style.

We know it can be hard to purchase gear like football boots and shin pads in time for the start of the season. Therefore, runners are acceptable and you can trial/train without shin pads.

However, when playing in competitive matches on the weekend (commencing in April), you will be required to wear footballs boots, shin pads and the LCFC uniform.

Don’t forget to bring a water bottle!

I want myself/my child to play with certain friends, who do I contact?

If you or your child would like to play with in the same team specific friends, then please enter their full names during the player registration process. There is a question that asks for any friends that you would like to play with! We will notify the age coordinator and do our best to allocate friends in the same teams. Please be mindful that it may not always be possible when teams are graded (U8s and older).

If you forget to input this information during your registration or you have something you need to amend, please simply email: admin@lcfc.com.au with the friend requests/updates.

How do I claim the Active Kids Rebate & use my Active Kids Voucher?

If you are planning on using the Active Kids Rebate for your child’s registration please apply for this BEFORE commencing registration with LCFC: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-active-kids-voucher

You can enter your Active Kids Rebate voucher number at the PAYMENT section of the registration process, under VOUCHERS/COUPONS, to receive $100.00 off your registration! Don’t forget to click APPLY to update the invoice prior to payment.

Speak to the Club if you would like to use your Active Kids Voucher for other LCFC programs such as Term 4 Skills and Development Squads.

Will I be refunded depending on the circumstance?

A place in a team cannot be guaranteed. If a player is not allocated to a team, a refund will be granted. Refunds for any other reason must be approved by the LCFC Board.

Once a player has been selected into a team and played a match scheduled under the official NSFA Competition, they will no longer be entitled to a refund due to withdrawal, injury or other circumstances.

If you think you are entitled to a refund please refer to the PlayFootball 2.0 Refund Process. Click here to view the Refunds Process Flow.

Why does my registration show as ‘pending’ on PlayFootball and why hasn’t my registration been ‘approved’?

Don’t worry, ALL registrations will be approved in our system!

It takes the administration team a long time to check all registrations and approve them in the system. Unfortunately, it is a manual process and we have over 1000 players all registering in a small number of weeks.

Once registrations are approved in the system it is more troublesome to amend registrations and we quite often leave it until the last possible moment before the start of the season so we can ensure we have all the right numbers and that players are registered in the correct age groups.

Rest assured, we consider your registration approved the moment you are in the system!

TRAINING & GAMES

What is the start/end date of the season and do you play in holidays?

NSFA is in charge of the football season draw and dates. Their calendar contains the most up to date information.

Competition matches commence in April and games continue to be played until mid/late August.

Miniroos and Juniors get one week off during school holidays. Please refer to the NSFA website to determine if you will be playing in the holidays.

Where are matches played throughout the season?

HOME games: Miniroos home games are played at Blackman Park. Juniors/All Age home games can be played at Blackman Park or Pottery Green.
Blackman Park address: Lloyd Rees Dr, Lane Cove West NSW 2066 (driving access via Wood Street).
Pottery Green address: Little St, Lane Cove NSW 2066.

AWAY games: Dependent upon your opposition, away games can be played at any NSFA grounds. Please click here to view all possible match grounds. (Please note that the miniroos draw is designed so that teams won’t have to travel too far).

NSFA allocates which fields matches will be played on and is subject to ground availability each weekend.

What days/times are matches scheduled?

Mixed Miniroos: Saturday mornings between 8:30am & 1:00pm
Mixed Juniors: Saturday mornings between 8:30am & 1:00pm
Girls Miniroos & Juniors: Sunday mornings between 8:30am & 1:00pm
Mens All Age/O35s & O45s: Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons (most commonly) and evenings and Sunday afternoons
Womens All Age/O35s: Sunday afternoons

What days/times is training scheduled?

The annual training schedule is dependent on the number of teams and players registered for the upcoming season, and will be finalised shortly before the start of the season. The current schedule can be seen here.

What happens when it is wet weather?

The Local Councils make the decision as to whether or not grounds are playable or closed due to weather conditions. If it is raining and you are unsure whether training/games are cancelled you may check the local council websites such as Lane Cove Council or phone 9911 3585 for the Lane Cove Council wet weather hotline.

NSFA also report on the wet weather for all grounds in their district. This can be checked here.

Who is in charge of the season draw and where do I find it?

NSFA (Northern Suburbs Football Association) is in charge of the draw. It can be located here (Fixtures, Results & Tables).

Due to wet weather and re-grading throughout the season, the draw is sometimes distributed only a week or 2 in advance. Should you have any issues or concerns regarding the draw please email admin@lcfc.com.au and we can pass on your comments to NSFA for a response.

I am considering coaching/managing a team. What are the responsibilities and requirements?

Coach: As a coach you will be required to:
– Conduct a training session once a week in Lane Cove for the entire team
– Organise the team for match day by preparing a warm up and making substitutions throughout the game

Manager: As a manager you will be required to:
– Alert all parents/players of any communication received personally from the Club that needs to be passed on
– Inform the team of the match time/place and monitor availability
– Manage the electronic match card system for game day
– Collect all shirts and kit back at the completion of the season

All volunteers must have a working with children check completed. Please apply here and email your WWC Number onto the Club asap.

Lane Cove is hugely grateful for anyone that takes on the responsibility of coaching or managing a team. Without people like you the club would cease to function.

What are the Development Squads, Diamond League and SAP?

The Club runs combined squads for the stronger and more enthusiastic players who want to develop their skills. These squads are selected after a period of trialling in the previous year.

Teams practice on Astroturf, twice per week starting in February with a dedicated professional coach. The top SAP/Development teams are normally very strong and compete in the highest divisions against other Academy/Development teams. The fees to participate in the development squads for a season come to approximately $1,000.00.

Should you have any questions regarding the Development squads please contact admin@lcfc.com.au or devsquad@lcfc.com.au.

Where can I find the NSFA competition regulations?

The NSFA competition regulations for all age groups can be found here.

How does the electronic match card (EMC) system work?

In 2016 NSFA introduced electronic match cards (EMC) to replace paper match cards. If you are a team manager you will be in charge of this process each weekend before the start of your team’s game.

To view the EMC Dribl guide and further information please click here.
