This week we received an email from member of the LCFC community, Peter Zelas, who recently travelled to Malawi. LCFC donated all our old jerseys for Peter to gift to the children he was visiting.
Peter's email reads:
"This email is to express my appreciation to the Lane Cove Soccer Club for their generosity, and to let you know that I have been to Blantyre in Malawi, and the shirts are now the proud possessions of young children who have grown up in the most difficult of circumstances. The shirts will remain on the premises for children to use whenever they are playing soccer, a national sport. The children’s faces just lit up when the shirts came out of the box I had been carrying them in. What they are especially so excited about is the number on the shirt.
The “Club” is a refuge for children who are referred there by police, wandering the streets, from social workers or who have been thrown out from their home etc. Some live there permanently, others may go home in the evening if circumstances allow. The organisation is part of the Retrak organisation, which you can view online.
So please convey my thanks to the Lane Cove Soccer Club, much appreciated."
Thank you Peter for your generosity! We are happy to see that LCFC can make a difference to these childrens lives.
