Lane Cove Football Club

On November 4 2017 LCFC representatives attended the annual NSFA presidents dinner at the Kirribilli Club.

2017 WAA Division 1 Player Matilda Vaughan won second place in the overall WAA Div 1 Golden Boot Award. A big congratulations on this wonderful achievement.

4 teams (U8, U9, U10 and U12) represented Lane Cove FC at the Sydney International Cup (SIC) at Narrabeen over the long weekend in October. It is a well organised and fun event with some very tough competition.  All teams seemed to have a great time!

At the opening ceremony, each team nominated a player to enter the juggling competition – to lift the ball with their feet, and keep it off the ground over 15-30m (depending on the age group) before delivering it into a bucket. It’s not as easy as it sounds yet our nominated players did us proud!

After each match, the opposition coach rated our goal keeper and nominated one of our players as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), along with the Ref’s records of the goal scorers. Each age group was awarded MVP, Golden Boot (for highest goal scorer) and Golden Glove (best goal keeper). We are proud to say one of our U8 kids won the Golden Glove for the entire U8 age group.

While the football was fun, it’s often the time between games that are most memorable for the kids. Beach trips and sock soccer (in the gymnasium on the wooden floors wearing socks) seemed to be the favourites. Although one family did nip off to grab a haircut and a new car between games!

We recently purchased some brand new Lane Cove FC Banners which were kindly organised by parents from our development squad teams and members of the development squad committee.

The banners were in action for the first time at the Sydney International Cup at Narrabeen just a couple of weeks ago!

Lane Cove Football Club would not run without the assistance of a great many volunteers. It is time to step back and thank these hardworking individuals who made the 2017 season possible.

All our volunteers (from under 6s through to over 45s) have taken time out of their personal lives to assist and improve your own or your child’s football experience. While it is not always smooth sailing, it is safe to say that these people have done the best they can.

Lane Cove FC, a community club playing in the Northern Suburbs Football Association region, with over 900 registered players, is seeking a coach for its premier league squad for the 2018 season.  With first-class facilities at its home ground at Blackman Park,  featuring two full-size artificial pitches the Club offers a challenging but friendly environment.  We are seeking a coach who has as a minimum a “C” Licence with FFA and who is keen to take on the challenge of building a squad for now and the future.  We are looking for someone who can build the trust of the players, improve their technical ability and bring the best out of them on the pitch.  The club has a regular entry in the FFA Cup qualifying rounds.  The Club will pay a fee for the service in line with market rates.  If interested please contact Francis Child, LCFC President on 0416 113200 or apply via email at admin@lcfc.com.au
