2019 Development Squads
The format of the 2019 development squads will be the same as for 2018, including the training days and uniform, with our professional KickStart coaches attending the Monday and Thursday training sessions at Blackman Astroturf and the weekend game fixtures.
Our trials are completed for the 2019 season and most teams are now finalised. However, there are 3 teams that need another player or two. These age groups are:
- U12G – an U12 girls only team that will play their matches on Sunday mornings. For girls born in 2007
- U13 – a mixed team for those born in 2006 (we can also take those born in the last 3 months of 2005)
- U10 – a mixed team for those born in 2009.
If you wish to trial for these teams, please contact us at email@example.com
Development Squad Training:
Commences on in February 2019 on the Astroturf pitch at Blackman Park.
Training is every Monday and Thursday afternoon. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to ensure that your child is on time, dressed, drink bottle filled and ready to start by their session start time. Please wait off the field until the coaches call the children onto the field. Ensure you are on time to pick your child up. Please be aware that traffic congestion can vary greatly around Blackman Park.
The final times for 2018 training on Mondays are:
Session 1: 5-6:15pm for the U8A, U8B, U9A, U10B, U10C teams
Session 2: 6:15-7:30pm for the U10A, U11A, U12A, U12B teams
(Note – the U10 age groups train at different times – we need to do this to balance coaches and pitch hire across the sessions.)
There is no training on public holidays, extreme heat or during lightning storms. As they train on AstroTurf, training will continue when it is raining or if it is dark or foggy.
There are toilets at Blackman Park that are opened for training. The toilet entrance is within sight of Blackman Park Astroturf. For safety, children will always go to the toilet in pairs.
The training uniform will be the blue shorts, blue socks and blue & white shirt that have previously been used by the development squad. Training uniforms will be available at your own cost from Kingsgrove in early 2019. All children must wear boots and shinpads at all times during training.
The match uniform will be the yellow LCFC uniform. LCFC will provide a yellow shirt to your child which is to be returned at the end of the season. There is no additional fee for the shirt. Yellow shorts and socks will be available at your own cost from Kingsgrove.
As previous years uniforms are able to be worn to training, we have started a second hand area for good quality uniforms that kids have grown out of.
Games will commence later in the season – usually in late March or early April.
Parent volunteers are needed to fill the following positions:
• Team Manager: one parent for each team to be the single point of contact
• Refereeing: one parent for one half of each match is required to ref games
• Committee: parent volunteers are required to run the development squad as a whole by serving on the committee.
The Development Squad cost in 2019 is planned to be less than $999 plus the club rego (amount depends on your child’s age group) and uniform costs (the uniform will be the same as in 2018). This covers the professional coaching (two training sessions per week plus game day, close to 100 hours), the AstroTurf field hire and upkeep of equipment. The Development Squad does not aim to make a profit, but merely to cover costs.
