Development Squad Training:
Commences on Monday 19 February 2018 on the Astroturf 2 pitch (the far end) at Blackman Park.
Training is every Monday and Thursday afternoon. Please arrive at least 10 min early to ensure that your child is on time, dressed, drink bottle filled and ready to start by their session start time. Please wait off the field until the coaches call the children onto the field. Ensure you are on time to pick your child up. Please be aware that traffic congestion can vary greatly around Blackman.
The final times for 2018 training are:
Session 1: 5-6pm for the U8A, U8B, U9A, U10B, U10C teams
Session 2: 6-7pm for the U10A, U11A, U12A, U12B teams
(Note – the U10 age groups train at different times – we need to do this to balance coaches and pitch hire across the sessions.)
There is no training on public holidays, extreme heat or during lightning storms. As they train on AstroTurf, training will continue when it is raining or if it is dark or foggy.
There are toilets at Blackman that are opened for training. The toilet entrance is within sight of Blackman Astroturf. For safety, children will always go to the toilet in pairs.
The training uniform will be the blue shorts, blue socks and blue & white shirt that have previously been used by the development squad. Training uniforms will be available at your own cost from Kingsgrove in the near future. Details to be provided in the next few weeks. In the meantime, please wear blue soccer gear if you have some. All children must wear boots and shinpads at all times during training.
Some samples of the development squad tracksuit jackets will be available at Kingsgrove for sizing, and then one order will be placed a few weeks in. Details to be provided in the next few weeks.
The match uniform will be the yellow LCFC uniform. LCFC will provide a yellow shirt to your child which is to be returned at the end of the season. There is no additional fee for the shirt. Yellow shorts and socks will be available at your own cost from Kingsgrove. Details to be provided in the next few weeks. Games will commence later in the season – usually in late March or early April. Your team manager will let you know when the draw is available.
As old uniforms are able to be worn to training, we will be starting a second hand area for uniforms that kids have grown out of.
Parent volunteers are needed to fill the following positions:
• Team Manager: one parent for each team to be the single point of contact
• Refereeing: one parent for one half of each match is required to ref games
• Committee: parent volunteers are required to run the development squad as a whole by serving on the committee.
We will provide the finalised teams know their players list so parents can work out a volunteer to manage the team for the season. The managers forward information from the club, NSFA etc. to their team. For example, the managers will let their team know (perhaps with an app e.g. team snap or team app) in the rare occurrence of training or games being cancelled. They will also co-ordinate substitutes for the team if requried, a parent referee, and oranges (plus lollies!) at games. They will also forward the team details of other competitions that you may wish to play in e.g. Kanga Cup, July in Canberra and Sydney International Cup, October in Narrabeen.
The cost in 2017 was less than $999 in addition to club rego. This covers the professional coaching (two training sessions per week plus game day, close to 100 hours), the astroturf field hire, and the training kit.
